Joana Monteiro
Joana Monteiro is a professor at FGV EBAPE and FGV EAESP and Lemann Visiting Public Policy Fellow at Columbia University. Joana is a specialist in public policy evaluation and her research seeks to qualify public problems and evaluate the impact of government actions, especially in the areas of public security and criminal justice. She has a Doctorate and Master's Degree in Economics from PUC-Rio, a Bachelor's Degree in economics from UFRJ and was a visiting researcher at the Center for International Development at Harvard University between 2009 and 2012. She worked for six years in positions of trust in the government as Director-President of the Institute of Public Security (2015-2018) and as coordinator of the Research Center of the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (2019-2020).
